displaced public

I’m interested in what happens if we inject an online mail reader

(gmail) into the exhibition. If you’re using gmail then what will show

up in the project page is your own mail I suppose, and you will wonder

what your private emails are doing in a public exhibition, and start to

reflect along those lines, and you might do some email work at the same

time. Does it feel uncomfortable, the displacement? For those who don’t

have gmail-cookies on their device at the moment, you’re left at the

login page which is kind of stupid, but makes a point about what the

role of the big players are on this arena and if we’re able to keep them

out at all. The artwork of this is not gmail itself, but your own

private mails in a public exhibition. Another idea is how you could make

a cookie-dependent artwork that suits each user to it with his private

data.
